本日の箇所である創世記18章16節以下の段落では、アブラハムにイサクの誕生を予告した三人のみ使いが、その後、ソドムとゴモラの町を視察に行く場面が書き記されています。
ソドムとゴモラの罪は非常に重く、その知らせが天上の主の耳にまで届いたというのです。主なる神がこれらの町を滅ぼそうとされていることを知ったアブラハムは、主の前に進み出て、ソドムのために嘆願しました。
「あの町に正しい者が 五十人いるならば、その五十人のためにあなたは町をお赦しにはならないのですか」そのように主に尋ねて、「もしソドムの町に正しい者が五十人いるならば、その者たちのために町全部を赦そう」という答えを得るのです。
アブラハムは、この答えを聞くと、正しい者の人数を少しずつ値切っていきます。最後は10人になりました。主なる神は「その10人のためにわたしは滅ぼさない」と、アブラハムに言われたのです。今朝は、この箇所を通して「執り成しの祈り」とはどういうものかを思い巡らせつつ、そこから響いてくる神さまのメッセージに耳を傾けたいと思います。

In today's passage, Genesis 18:16 and the following paragraphs, it says the three angels, who predicted the birth of Isaac to Abraham, went to inspect the towns of Sodom and Gomorrah.
The sins of Sodom and Gomorrah were so serious that the news reached the ears of the Lord in heaven. When Abraham knew that the Lord God was going to destroy these towns, he came before the Lord and pleaded for Sodom.
"If there are fifty righteous people in that city, won't you forgive the city for the fifty?" He asked and the Lord answered, “If there are fifty righteous people in Sodom, I will forgive the whole city for them.”
When Abraham heard this answer, he bargained little by little for the number of the righteous. We ended up with 10 people. The Lord God said to Abraham, "For those ten, I will not destroy." This morning, we would like to listen to God's message that resounds through this passage as we turn over in our mind what "intercessory prayer" means.

本日の聖書箇所であるコリントの信徒への手紙一12章では、使徒パウロが教会員一人一人に与えられた「霊的な賜物」についての説き明かしをしています。
すなわち、ある人には知恵の言葉が与えられ、また他の人には知識の言葉、さらに別の人には信仰というように、それぞれの個性に応じて各自に「霊の賜物」が与えられていること、そうされたのは三位一体の神であり、各自の賜物が異なるのは、それによって「全体の益となるため」(7節）だというのです。
キリストの教会は、パウロが説くようにまさに「一つの体」です。人間の体において、目が手に向かって「お前は要らない」とは言えず、また頭が足に向かって「お前たちは要らない」と言うようなことはありません。それぞれが、体の大切な一部分としての役割を担っているからです。
教会も同じだとパウロは言います。一人一人が「キリストの体」を構成する大切な肢体です。見栄えの良さが大切なのではありません。それどころか「体の中で弱く見える」部分こそかえって必要だとパウロは言うのです。

In today's passage of scripture, 1 Corinthians Chapter 12, the apostle Paul explains the "spiritual gifts" given to each member of the church.
He says that the Triune God gives “the spiritual gifts” to each person according to each personality; to one there is given a message of wisdom, to another a message of knowledge, to another faith by the same Spirit . And he says each gift is different because they are “for the common good.” (ver. 7).
The Church of Christ is exactly "one body," as Paul preaches. In the human body, the eye cannot say to the hand, "I don't want you," or the head to the foot, "I don't want you." Each one plays a role as an important part of the body.
The church is same, says Paul. Each person is a limb that constitutes “the body of Christ.” Good looks aren't important. On the contrary, Paul says that the part that "looks weak in the body" is actually necessary.

イエスのもとに、ファリサイ派とサドカイ派の人々がやって来て、天からのしるしを見せてほしいと求めました。彼らは、信仰の理解において互いに立場を異にしていましたから、通常は一緒に行動したりはしません。ところが、イエスに対してはいずれも敵対関係にあったため、今回はイエスを試そうと共闘してやってきたのです。
ユダヤ人は、信仰を確かなものにするための「しるし」を求めました。第一コリント1章22節に「ユダヤ人はしるしを求め、ギリシャ人は知恵を探しますが、…」とあるように、目に見える確かな「しるし」の中に、彼らは信仰のあかしと素晴らしさを認めようとしたのです。
しかし、イエスは言われます。「よこしまで、神に背いた時代の者たちはしるしを欲しがるが、ヨナのしるしのほかには、しるしは与えられない」これは、どういう意味なのでしょうか。また、「時代のしるしを見る」とはどういうことでしょうか。そのことを、本日の聖書箇所のみ言葉を通して、聞いてゆきます。

The Pharisees and Sadducees came to Jesus and asked him to show them a sign from heaven. They were so different in their understanding of the faith that they would not normally work together. However, all of them had a hostile relationship with Jesus, so this time they fought together to test Jesus.
The Jews asked for a "sign" to confirm their faith. In��Corinthians 1:22, we find "Jews demand signs and Greeks look for wisdom, ..." They tried to recognize the testimony and splendor of their faith in certain visible "signs."
But Jesus says, " A wicked and adulterous generation looks for a sign, but none will be given it except the sign of Jonah." What does this mean? Also, what does it mean to " interpret the signs of the times"? We will listen to this through the words of today's passage of scripture.

ある安息日のことです。イエスと弟子たちの一行が、麦畑の中を通って行くことがありました。その時、弟子たちが、歩きながら麦の穂を摘んで食べたというのです。
律法の規定によれば、このような行為は普通の日であれば、何の問題もない行為でした。申命記23章25節によると、旅人は畑に鎌を入れない限り、麦を自由に摘んで食べてもよいことになっています。
ところが、この日は安息日であり、一切の仕事をすることが禁止されていました。当時のファリサイ派のユダヤ人たちは、四十に一つ足りない数の「安息日にしてはならない労働」を定めていたと言われます。そのうちの四つ、すなわち刈り取り、もみ殻の吹き分け、打穀とあら粉の準備、という禁じられた労働をした罪で、弟子たちは律法違反者として告発されたのです。彼らラビにとって、このような律法違反は死罪に当たるほどの重罪でした。
これに対してイエスは言われます。「安息日は、人のために定められた。だから、人の子は安息日の主でもある。」と。本日はこの箇所から、安息日の意味について考えます。

One Sabbath, Jesus and his disciples were walking through a grainfield. At that time, the disciples picked and ate ears of wheat as they walked along.
According to the rule of the law, such an act would have been perfectly acceptable on a normal day. According to Deuteronomy 23:25, travelers are free to pick and eat wheat as long as they do not put a sickle into the field.
However, this day was the Sabbath, and no work was allowed. It is said that the Pharisee Jews at that time set a number of "labor they must not do on the Sabbath" which was one in forty. For doing four of these forbidden labors: harvesting, blowing the chaff, and preparing the threshing and flour, the disciples were accused of breaking the law. For these rabbis, breaking the law was a serious offence as a capital crime.
Jesus says to this. "The Sabbath was made for man. Therefore, the Son of Man is also Lord of the Sabbath." From this passage, we will consider the meaning of the Sabbath today.

創世記27章は、アブラハム、イサク、ヤコブと続く族長たちの物語の中で、なぜイサクの後継者として、双子の兄弟の兄エサウではなく、弟のヤコブが、慣例に反して選ばれることになったのか、その原因となった事件が書き記されているところです。
その事件とは、ヤコブが母親のリベカと共謀して兄に変装し、しかも父イサクが好む鹿の肉を使った料理を食べさせ、父親に自分をエサウだと思い込ませて、父親から祝福をだまし取ったことでした。エサウに何か特別な非があったわけではありません。しかし、このような事件が起こる伏線として、聖書は、兄エサウに見られた、神の民としてのイスラエルの族長となるのに、およそふさわしくない行動を二つ挙げています。
一つは、エサウが長子の特権を軽んじたということです(創世記25：34）。 二つ目は、エサウが、外国人（ヘト人）の娘を妻としたことです（創世記 26：34）。これらは、小さなことではありませんでした。信仰生活はわたしたちが何を大切にして生きるかという態度と直結しています。祝福が与えられる生き方とは何か。それを創世記から学びます。

Genesis ch.27 mentions the case of cause that the younger brother Jacob, not the older brother of twins, was chosen as an Issac’s heir out of rule, in the story of the leaders of the tribe, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob.
The case was that Jacob conspired with his mother, Rebekah, to disguise himself as his older brother, moreover, he tricked his father Issac into thinking he was Esau by making him eat deer meat, which was Issac’s favorite, and cheated God’s blessing from his father.
Esau did not have a special fault. However, the Bible mentions 2 inappropriate behaviors in Esau to become a leader of Israel as people of God; as a foreshadowing of such a case.
First, Esau despised his birthright. (Gen. 25:34) Second, Esau married foreign daughter (the Hittite). (Gen. 26:34)They were not trifles. A life of faith is directly linked to the attitude of what we cherish in our lives. What is the blessed life? We learn it from Genesis.
