受難節のさ中を過ごしていますが、本日の聖書箇所は、ルカによる福音書23章26節以下です。ここでは、総督ピラトのもとで裁判を受けたイエスが、ローマ皇帝への反逆を企てるため、民衆を扇動したという理由で十字架刑を言い渡され、処刑場までの道を十字架を背負って歩む場面が描かれています。この道はラテン語で「ヴィア・ドロローサ：（悲しみの道）」と呼ばれます。それは、現在ではローマ兵の駐屯基地であったアントニオ要塞からイエスが処刑され、息を引き取ったとされる聖墳墓教会までのおよそ500メートルの道を指しています。
  こうして、夕方となり最後の晩餐の席に着かれました。そこにはイエスを裏切ることになるイスカリオテのユダも同席していました。食事の席でイエスは言われます。「はっきり言っておく。あなたがたのうちの一人がわたしを裏切ろうとしている。」自分を裏切ろうとしている弟子の存在を認識しつつ、にもかかわらず、共に過ぎ越しの食事を分かちあうことをされた主イエスの心の内は、どのようなものだったでしょうか。イエスはユダにパンを渡し、「しようとしていることを今すぐしなさい」と言われます。本日は、この箇所からみ言葉に聞きます。

    We are currently in the midst of Lent, and today’s Scripture reading is from the Gospel of Luke, chapter 23, verse 26 and following. This passage describes the scene in which Jesus, having been tried before Governor Pilate, is sentenced to crucifixion on the grounds that he incited the people to rebel against the Roman emperor, and then walks the path to the place of execution while carrying the cross. This path is known in Latin as the “Via Dolorosa” (Way of Sorrows). It refers to the approximately 500-meter route from the Antonia Fortress—which was once a Roman military garrison—to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, where Jesus is said to have been executed and breathed his last.
    During this 500-meter journey, Jesus stumbled and fell several times. Unable to bear the sight, a Roman soldier ordered Simon, a passerby standing nearby, to help carry Jesus’ cross. It is written that a large crowd and mourning women followed behind Jesus as he carried the cross. However, when Jesus saw this, he said: “Daughters of Jerusalem, do not weep for me; weep rather for yourselves and for your children.” What do these words mean? Today, we will listen to the Word of God starting from this passage.

  在这500米的路上，耶稣 数次踉跄跌倒，见状不忍的罗马士兵便让身旁的过路人西门与耶稣一同背负十字架。经文记载，在背负十字架的耶稣身后，有大批群众和 哀哭的妇女们跟随其后。然而，耶稣看见了这一幕，便说： “耶路撒冷的女儿们，不要为我哭泣。不如为你们自己和你们的儿女哭泣。”这句话是什么意思呢？今天，我们就从这里聆听神的话语。
